Books by Veronica Vasquez Garcia

Movement • Literacy • Emotional Wellness

Veronica Vasquez Garcia writes at the intersection of movement, literacy, and emotional wellness. Her books are designed to help children—and eventually teens and adults—connect to their inner world through presence, imagination, somatic awareness, and joy.

Each title reflects a core belief at the heart of her Somatic SEL Framework™:
the body learns first, and the story unfolds from there.

Her books live inside a wider ecosystem of certifications, curriculum, nonprofit programming, and professional training—giving families, caregivers, and educators tangible tools for growth and emotional connection.

If you were like me, the first thought is, “Hey, how can you have a children’s book without pictures?” Well, the author Veronica Vasquez very successfully shows us how it is done with Elinor’s Princess Ballet Book with No Pictures. Through Elinor, the dancing “Princess” of the book, Vasquez teaches preschoolers some of the basics of ballet: the vocabulary and the moves. She engages children in joyful movement while building self-confidence. The best part of the book is that it demonstrates that children should be active learners – dancing and listening, and enjoying how their bodies can be expressive. I highly recommend this book, and would like to see the author continue to write other books (maybe for Princes, for starters?) that continue on with her heartfelt mantra: Movement and Dancing are exhilarating! “

— Nancy Matz, Retired High School Librarian

“I love the context of the book because you can write your ideas about your daily feelings.”

— Mari
